• OHH  what a big gear!!!

Maybe a smaller gear can fix some Problems.... one moment, i look into my books...

OK, curious... i have nothing found in the part catalog of the S53. But my suggestion is, that you can take the same transmission like the S51. So your front gear must have 15 teeth and the rear gear 34 teeth. These are standart parts from a S51 an easy to get.
But bevor you buy parts wait of the opinion of the other users here.

How much teeth have the both gears from your simson?

  • Actually, I don\'t know at this moment. I will try to find out tomorrow.
My gear is one of the things that make it slower, right?

    .. A Danish Simson driver

  • yes, because of the transmission. small gear in front and big gear in the back. So the engine has to turn very fast for a normal speed. If you have a bigger gear in front (and a smaller gear in the back), you get more speed but less power.

Yes, I understand. So, would it be good if I bought a gear from a S51?

  • The engine of the S53M has only 1,5hp

that is a copy from mza

    Technische Angaben:
    Motor: Zweitakt-Otto-Motor
    Hubraum: 49,9 ccm
    Max.Leistung: 1,15kW bei 4250 U/min
    Getriebe/Antrieb: 3 Gang, Kette
    Bremsen: vorn Trommelbremse, hinten Trommelbremse
    Leergewicht: 84 kg
    zul. Gesamtgewicht: 260 kg

  • oh ok, i have confused it with a \"normal\" S53

we also should keep an eye on your exhaust-gas system. I`ve read in my book, that at the 40km/h models the manifold is much longer as the normal manifold.

These are datas from a S51:

Model
     streched manifold length
     insertlength in the exhaust

40km/h
     650mm
     310mm

50km/h
     460mm
     20mm

60km/h
     360mm
     20mm

70km/h
     360mm
     20mm

So you see, that the manifold is much shorter on the faster models. But you have eto know, that these are datas from the S51 and not from the S53. Maybe there are differences.
But you can measure your manifold for us, so we can maybe say if you can short it.

  • Can it be true, that the rear gear has 51 teeth, and the front gear has 15 teeth?

I am sure about the rear, but not with the front gear.

    .. A Danish Simson driver

  • maybe it can be, because you have a \"mofa\"-gear on the rear.

What i don`t know is: If you change the transmission to the standart 60km/h transmission (15 teeth front, 34 rear), if your engine has enough power to move your simson to 60km/h... because there are small differences on your engine to a 60km/h engine.

Maybe it works if your change the carburetor and the rear gear (so you need a new chain too) and short your manifold. If this take no effect, you can send your cylinder to http://www.langtuning.de or http://www.reichtuning.de and let it grind to 60ccm.

@all: does no one know here, what the differences between a 40km/h and a 60/km/h engine are? I thought, that the only differences are the transmission, the carburetor, the exhaust-gas system and the cylinder.

  • Hallo,

  • Dk-dda :

First: send your engine to schwarzfahrer here in the forum, he is one of the mods and a authorized Simson Dealer. He will modify your engine. Then you can use a S51 (~60km/h) or S61 (~70km/h) Cylinder. He is not expensive, imho very cheap! All other parts you need he can also give you (my damn english).
I will send him a pm.

The carburator you choose is not the \"optimal\" one! Take only a Amal/arreche 16mm, better BVF 16N1 or 16N3!

    Simson ist ein Virus 8|
Hubraum ist durch nichts zu ersetzen...

  • Can you please make a link to the caburator, you think will be best for me? My German is bad, so I think it is hard to find one.

Will schwarzfahrer send me a message? or do I have to contact him myself?
